Join us to help prevent family violence and to honour those who have lost their lives this year to family violence.
Get ready for this year’s Walk Against Violence event (WAVe)! We will hold this event on Friday the 20th of November and encourage everyone in the community to come and join us. We walk to remember those we have lost to family violence homicide and to raise awareness that family violence is never okay in our community.
The event will be at Stow Gardens starting at 9 am with Welcome to Country and speakers before our walk on the footpath down Marine Terrace. This year, we will be focusing on community strength and resilience to overcome family violence and the many different ways that this manifests, such as the personal strength and resilience of a person who has experienced violence or the strength of a community to come together a prevent family violence to keep everyone safe.
A free sausage sizzle awaits us on our return from the walk and a reflection paddle out will be hosted by a Glassy Day Surfing after our event. The event will conclude around 11 am. Please join us in bringing everyone, men, women and children, into the conversation about how to end violence against women in our community.
