"There is just something in the water that seems to make everything okay."
This local short documentary film is about the inception of the incredible Geraldton based initiative ‘Surf to Smile’ run by A Glassy Day Surf Coaching. The program is aimed at helping people in our community who need it most, to process and heal from trauma and mental health issues, through learning to surf.
We were so proud to feature this film at our International Women’s Day event earlier this week. But we want to get the word out there further about this amazing local program, that anyone, any business or organisation in our community can help support through means of sponsorship. Just ask us how!
“The people who I wanted to reach, I don’t see them at the beach. Their in sh*tty situations and they’re not able to do surfing lessons. And not feeling good enough, they’re not even at the beach. They may not even have a car to get to the beach.” – Shaun Glass
A Glassy Day Surf Coaching is working with Desert Blue Connect to be able to provide the Surf to Smile lessons to some of our clients, particularly those who are impacted by family violence issues, trauma and mental illness.
“It’s like I was free, a safe spot.”
“It brought something out in her that made her shine.”
“It felt like pure happiness.”
“There is just something in the water that seems to make everything okay.”
Please watch the film, and please reach out to support through sponsorship if you can.
