To mark International Women’s Day, our very own Isabel Ross is making a bold statement—having a big chop to raise $1,000 for the vital work we do at Desert Blue Connect.

With long dreadlocks since 2010 and her last haircut in 2001, Isabel jokes about, “goodness knows what’s under there!” And while she has loved her dreads, she’s ready to feel lighter, breezier, and support an incredible cause — our work!

We are so grateful to Isabel for her bravery and generosity in supporting our work. The funds she raises will help us provide essential health, wellness, and safety services for women across the Mid West. Every dollar contributes to ensuring that women in our community have access to the resources, care, and support they need to live safely and with dignity.

Isabel will be doing the big chop near International Women’s Day, on Friday 14th March. In addition to honouring this special occasion, she also hopes her gesture serves as a celebration of women’s progress in society. She wants to challenge gender norms and show her children that women can have short hair too and look all sorts of ways.
