On Tuesday 25th June Desert Blue Connect were invited to the Shine programs sponsor’s day. The day was an opportunity for partners and sponsors of Shine to find out more about the program and be given an insight into how it positively impacts the girls participating in it. Since Shine began in 2010, Desert Blue Connect Community Initiatives Officers have worked in partnership with the program to provide respectful relationship, abuse prevention and sexuality and relationship education for young women. The aim of our engagement with the program is to educate young women about family violence and abuse and increase their knowledge and skills to develop healthy relationships. To give a snapshot of what our workshops are all about, participants were invited to contribute to our group art mural by writing about our key themes- we all have a right to feel safe, to love and be loved and to be treated with respect.
Thank you Shine for inviting us to be a part of the day and for continuing to work with us!
