Practical applications workshop to teach protective behaviours education to children.

Delivered by Child Focus Safety Services WA, this workshop will assist with understanding the causes of child abuse and neglect and to develop appropriate education intervention strategies to assist prevention and empower individual children and young people to prevent and disclose abuse by using Protective Behaviours Education.

This workshop will provide participants with the fundamental background knowledge and skills to teach Protective Behaviours to children with confidence in a safe nonthreatening environment and has been specifically designed, so you have the confidence and tools to start teaching this valuable information to the children in your care, straight away.

This workshop is a must not only for educators but also for service providers working in children’s services.

At the end of this workshop participants will be:
– Better informed on the Protective Behaviours Themes, Core Concepts and Strategies
– Better informed on the practical activities and exercises to apply the program
– Better informed on the wide variety of resources available to assist in the implementation of the PB Program
– More confident to teach the PB program with their target audience.

About the presenter:
Justine O’Malley is a qualified educator, social worker and counsellor who has over 30 years experience working with children and young people. Specialising in supporting children’s social and emotional development (Specialising in children aged 3-16 years). Her numerous child focused roles have included; classroom teacher (locally and Internationally), early years educator, child protection social worker, school social worker/counsellor and University Lecturer.
