Media Release, 21 April 2026.

The Morawa community came together last Saturday, for a vibrant and highly successful Community Connections Expo, with more than 250 people attending the free event at the Morawa Greater Sports Ground.

The Expo created a fun and lively space for locals to connect with a wide range of services, community groups, and organisations from across Morawa and surrounding areas. Attendees had the opportunity to explore supports available to them, while enjoying family-friendly entertainment, food stalls, and activities throughout the afternoon and evening.

A key strength of the event was the strong participation from stallholders, many of whom provided interactive experiences that encouraged meaningful engagement with visitors. The visitor postcard initiative was particularly well received, motivating attendees to connect with every stall and ensuring great exposure for all organisations involved.

The Expo Coordinator Naomi Francis from Desert Blue Connect said the event exceeded expectations.
“It was incredible to see so many people come out and connect with what’s available in their community. Events like this play such an important role in strengthening relationships and making sure people know where to go for support,” Ms Francis said.

Live demonstrations were a standout feature of the Expo, drawing strong crowds and providing practical, potentially life-saving information. These included a fire blanket demonstration, the correct use of fire extinguishers, and an impressive Jaws of Life car cutting demonstration.

“The demonstrations were a real highlight. They not only drew people in, but also gave them hands-on knowledge and confidence around safety that they can take away with them,” Ms Francis said.
The event also featured a Festival of Colours ‘Colour Run’ to close out the evening, adding to the sense of celebration and community spirit.

Desert Blue Connect extended its sincere thanks to all stallholders, vendors, demonstration teams, volunteers, and organisers who contributed their time and effort to ensure the event ran smoothly. Most importantly, thanks were given to the community members whose attendance made the day such a success.

“This event really showed what’s possible when community comes together. We’re proud to be part of creating these opportunities and look forward to building on this momentum in the future,” Ms Francis said.

The Morawa Community Expo was proudly supported by Desert Blue Connect and the Shire of Morawa.
