Achieving an equal future in a COVID 19 world

This year our International Women’s Day Dinner celebrates women in leadership and how we can achieve an equal future in a COVID 19 world. Desert Blue Connect and Soroptimists International Association invite you to the Geraldton Yacht Club on Thursday March 11th to enjoy a three-course dinner with an evening of inspirational speeches by local women excelling in leadership in a wide variety of areas, from politics to business to the arts.

Natalie Nelmes from Geraldton University Centre will be the evening’s MC and the guest speakers are Charmaine Green, Joanne Fabling, Lara Dalton, Natasha Colliver and Kathryn Jackson, with a welcome to country by Theona Councillor.

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, the first of which was held 110 years ago and has continued to be held every year since. It is a day to reflect on the progress that we have made, the courage of those who came before us and where we have yet to get to. It is a day to celebrate together as women, to unite, to network and to mobilise for meaningful change.

“This year’s International Women’s Day dinner is a great way to celebrate with other women as well as hear from women who are excelling in traditionally male dominated fields, ” says Sarah O’Malley, Community Initiatives Officer for Desert Blue Connect.

“It is especially important to come together this year, to recharge and to celebrate our collective achievements,” says Monica Puccetti, Community Initiatives Coordinator for Desert Blue Connect. “A lot of us have had a hard year, but we can shoulder the burdens of the year and the burdens of work much better when we share those burdens. After all, when we lift each other up, we all excel.”

Bookings can be made via Eventbrite, at our office 25 Chapman Rd or by calling 99642742.
