Barndimalgu Court finished for 2018 last week, and we would like to thank Magistrate Donna Webb for her invaluable contribution and immense support to the Barndimalgu Court process and wish her the best in her future endeavours.  Magistrate Webb is moving on after 3 years here in Geraldton.

Barndimalgu is a specialised Family Violence Court in Geraldton and is the only therapeutic court in Australia where the Aboriginal Community members assist the Magistrate during the sentencing process. It is aimed at reducing Family Violence in the community while engaging with the offender and the victim in a culturally sensitive manner.  A Desert Blue Connect social worker works with the victims of family violence while their partner/ex-partner attends the court or the Indigenous Family Violence Program.  She provides support, advocacy, referral and risk assessment and safety planning to these women.
