To mark the 16 Days in WA campaign, we came together with the other team members of the Barndimalgu Court to stand together to say violence is not okay in our community.
We feel really proud to be able to be a part of the Barndimalgu Court, the only Indigenous family violence court of its kind in Australia and to represent the voice of the victims of family violence in our community.
Barndimalgu means ‘to fix things, make good’ and that is the foundation of our work with the Barndimalgu Court — to acknowledge the impact of violence on families and children, provide support for the victims and to help families connect with each other.
We would also like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to our new Magistrate Angus Hockton and his wife, who are new to Geraldton. We hope you love the Mid West as much as we do.
And also extend a massive thank you to the Barndimalgu Court team, the Mid West Gascoyne Police, all the staff at the Court House, Corrective Services, the Aboriginal Legal Service, Communicare and the Aboriginal Court Community Members — you all do such incredible work and we are proud to stand with you.
